Extra virgin olive oil is gaining popularity with the passing of each day. There is no doubt that it is becoming a popular kitchen item, and why won’t it be? It has a host of benefits to offer to its consumers. It contains least amount of cholesterol, which is a big benefit. It is a must have for all the health conscious human beings.

It is the best cooking oil that you can perhaps consume. But surely one place you would not like to have it, is in your carpets. Throughout the day, a number of things fall on the carpet. Some of them can be easily washed or wiped, but what about natural olive oil? Spilling fresh olive oil on carpet is very common. At this very moment too, it might be, a homemaker is thinking to find measures to clean up the mess on their carpet.

Dealing with such a situation is certainly an arduous task. But, nevertheless it is not an impossible one. Follow the below mentioned steps to easily remove extra virgin olive oil stain and make your carpet look, like a new one.

  1. Use a cloth and immediately wipe off as much natural olive oil as you can, on the carpet. You can use a tissue, a paper towel or a cloth towel also. It is better to use whichever cloth is at hands distance, rather than going shopping for it. This is so, because with time the oil will settle in the carpet and become harder.
  2. Once you are done with the above step, the next step is to make a cleaning solution. The cleaning solution would be used, to remove the stains that have become solid particles and settled in the deeper ends of the carpet fibers. The solution should ideally contain one and five parts of non-bleach laundry detergent and warm water, respectively.
  3. After applying the solution on stained parts of the carpet, allow it to set for five minutes. Thereafter, start blotting the stained parts with a clean piece of paper. On blotting you will see for yourself that the effected parts are getting cleaned up, slowly. It will signify that the procedure is working and will serve the purpose.
  4. If you think that, once olive oil stains gets removed your work is over, then you are wrong. You have to ensure that no jot or hue of residues remain behind, in the carpet. To complete the process of cleaning the carpet, rinse the carpet areas thoroughly. After that, put the carpet to dry. It is advisable to dry the carpet using some clean rags which will ensure that no built-up takes place. Built-ups can otherwise harm the carpet by making the carpet fibers weak.

As the evergreen saying goes, it is easier said than done. Similar, is the case with cleaning carpets also. You can take help from professional carpet cleaning service providers, if you think you need them.
