Will
frying food items degrade the value of extra
virgin olive oil? There are many questions that linger around when it comes
to cooking in natural olive oil. Frying
food items in olive oil is one of them. There are some who recommend intake of
natural olive oil only in the raw state. This is because it can lose its
nutrients if heated for a long time. On the other hand, some say that extra virgin olive oil should be
consumed only in the raw form, because it can make you fat.
Extra virgin olive oil is, in fact the best choice for frying. This is so, because
it is highly resistance to heat. While frying, the cook must remember to monitor
the temperature. Heating the food item until smoke comes or beyond 180 ºC is
not recommended. It is true that the resistant power of olive oil is much more
than other local oils, but again it also has a shelf life.
If
you have heard that intake of extra
virgin olive oil makes you fat, don’t believe in it. It is nothing but a
myth.
Olive
oil is highly nutritious. The health benefits of consuming premium quality extravirgin olive oil cannot be counted. There are a number of shops that
sell fresh olive oil. Each of the shop vendors claim to supply the best
form of oil. However, not all are found to be true. Try to do some research
about the shop and the vendor, before buying olive oil from the shops. The cost
of natural olive oil remains to be higher than the other local oils. Due
to the high cost of olive oil, many abstain from consuming it. In that case,
people should remember the plethora of benefits that extra virgin olive oil
brings along with it.
