Posted by Unknown Thursday, 2 May 2013

Global warming is a disturbing phenomenon for more reasons than one. There are severe after effects of this human made environmental problem. A study that was published by the National Academy of Sciences claimed that three quarters of the major wine producing areas on the Earth will become unsuitable for vine farming in less than forty years due to severe climate change. The climate change is expected to be particularly harsh in the Mediterranean region, which is the highest producer of olive fruits used to extract fresh olive oil. The vine farming regions all over the world are expected to be reduced by 68%. Similar losses are expected in the olive oil for sale producing regions across South Africa, Australia, Chile and other countries.

The study further claims that the olive production will have to be shifted to other suitable climate locations in Central China, Northern Europe and North-western Americas. This climate change will have a severe effect on the olive farming in Mediterranean region. As olive trees are easy to manage and they can thrive across many terrains with least water so many nations are showing eagerness to emerge into the trade of producing olive oil for sale and natural olive oil. In Libya and India olive plantations have started coming up. This could mean a shift in the power pole from Mediterranean regions to Asia and other parts of the world. Though the study shows that there will be no shortage of extra virgin olive oil and other varieties of such oil, but there will be new super powers.
